The 2020 edition of the annual Jobs and Development Conference is taking place online on 1-4 September. The event brings together researchers and practitioners from across the world to discuss policy-relevant research and solutions to jobs challenges in low- and middle-income countries. Topics range from gender and labour markets, job quality, informality, and social protection to training and skills, trade and globalization, and the impacts of COVID-19 on the world of work. Join us!

In addition to presentations on nearly 90 research papers, the programme features keynote speeches by Ekaterina Zhuravskaya (Paris School of Economics) and Ian Goldin (University of Oxford).

Also not to be missed is the policy panel on 2 September, in which Kunal Sen (UNU-WIDER) chairs an engaging session with Indhira Vanessa Santos (World Bank), Sangheon Lee (International Labour Organization), Martha Chen (Harvard Kennedy School), and Haroon Bhorat (University of Cape Town) on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on employment in the Global South, what we have learnt so far, and how policy makers can respond.

There is also a special session on COVID-19, jobs, and development, chaired by Piotr Lewandowski (IBS, Poland), which showcases some of the most interesting research to have emerged over recent months.
