Invitation
What: A webinar that will look at inequality and poverty in developing contexts and how those could be tackled with broader social policy responses according to the life-cycle approach as part of the development policy solutions.
When: Tuesday 24th May at 10 am (GMT +3)
Target audience: Development professionals (CSOs, civil servants), politicians interested in the topic
Why: Finland's development policy is based on the sustainable development goals (Agenda 2030). The new government report on development policy extending across parliamentary terms states that eradicating poverty and reducing inequality remain key goals for Finland. In addition, there are clearly identified main priorities - rights of women and girls; education; sustainable economies and decent work; peaceful and democratic societies; and climate change, biodiversity and sustainable management and use of natural resources. Despite poverty eradication being the main goal, the discourse on development revolves around thematic priories. The webinar is aiming at broadening Finnish development policy discourse and highlight social policy (and its different manifestations) as means to support achieving the overall goals as well as the sector specific targets.
