Place: Fingo´s Amazon-training room, 6th floor Elimäenkatu 25-27 Helsinki, Finland The space is accessible. Last day of registration: 17.3. According to UNESCO (2017), 264 million children of primary and secondary school age are out school. Roughly 415 million children are currently living in conflict areas, and estimates suggest that children in the conflict settings are roughly three times more likely to be out of school than children living in stable but low-income countries. The reality we face is that many children and young people are at risk of missing out on education. Consisting solutions on learning, professional development of teachers and education management systems, the field of EdTech (Education Technology) is vast. It has also influenced almost every face of modern educational delivery. Private sector support in the delivery of education and EdTech is more welcomed by governments, INGOs and civil society. Yet new kind of risks are identified, especially when working in fragile education environments. As some of the organisations working with education and development already have technological expertise to identify the suitable solutions for their needs, some of us are still struggling with questions like “Should we develop our own solutions to fit the context?” and “What really works?”. We welcome all education-minded organisations and individuals to have a conversation on the topic. This event will be a chance to learn from shared experiences and best practises, and also discuss together the biggest challenges identified. Save the Children is globally leading the Education cluster together with UNICEF. The worldwide organisation is also currently developing its own principles for EdTech. In this training event Senior EdTech Advisor Luke Stannard form Save the Children Norway will tell us about the work related to EdTech in Save The Children. Luke has worked extensively on the field of education and EdTech as a teacher in UK, and around the world as a consultant and a Save The Children staff member. The training will be held in English.
