Stop Caste Discrimination! - Workshop on Dalit rights in Nepal

In Nepal, 13 per cent of the population live on the margins of society - as unwanted untouchables and excluded from mainstream development. Despite having no legal or religious legitimacy, castes and caste discrimination continue to exist in South Asia. Caste discrimination involves massive violations of civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights. The seminar takes a closer look at the situation in Nepal. How can we eliminate caste discrimination? What parties are involved internationally? How are Dalit communities best empowered? How is the Dalits' right to political participation ensured? What are effective means of action?

Venue: Pikkuparlamentin kansalaisinfo (Visitor's Centre in Pikkuparlamentti, annex building of the Parliament house), Arkadiankatu 3, Helsinki
