EPA trade negotiations and poverty*

Last Monday, the MOT-programme of YLE asked whether EPA trade deals 
between EU and developing countries will increase poverty. The programme 
showed that African governments and farmers are very concerned and 
disappointed with the European - and Finnish - negotiation tactics. See: 

Come and hear whether African civil society organisations agree. Malcolm 
Damon, a South African civil society campaigner will present the views 
and work of Southern African CSOs on Wednesday 15.10. at 16 -- 17.30. 
The meeting will be held at Kepa, Töölöntorinkatu 2A.

About Malcolm Damon
Malcolm Damon is visiting Finland as a guest of the Finnish Evangelical 
Lutheran Mission (Suomen Lähetysseura). He is Executive Director of the 
Economic Justice Network (EJN), which has been established by Southern 
African Christian Councils. EJN works on trade, debt and finance and 
food security issues in 11 Southern African countries. It is also a 
member of several international networks including Africa Trade Network, 
Jubilee Africa South, Jubilee South and Our World is Not For Sale (OWINFS).

Damon has over 12 years of experience of policy and advocacy work, holds 
a Masters in Theology from the University of the Western Cape and has 
also studied ethics in Princeton, USA.
