The actions by the Governments of Hungary and Poland threaten the judicial independence and freedom of the media and undermine the rule of law as well as the respect for human rights. How can the civil society in Poland and Hungary operate in this environment? What is the role of human rights defenders? Are the core values of the EU at risk? How should the EU and its member states react? Top human rights experts from the human rights organisations in Hungary and Poland alongside with researchers and politicians will discuss these questions.
